In the case of direct representation, the Agent shall act on behalf of the person he represents but In the case of indirect representation, the representative acts in his own name and acts on behalf of the person he represents at the same time.The representative must declare that it is acting on behalf of the person represented, to indicate that the representation is direct or indirect, and to present the authorization certificate to the customs authorities.

Professionals who follow and finalize all kinds of customs operations of goods subject to customs clearance through indirect representation and who are given permission by the Undersecretariat of Customs are called as Customs Counselor. In this context, the Customs Conselors act on their own behalf and also on behalf of the person they represent, through indirect representation.Customs brokers are obliged to declare their acting on behalf of the person represented and to present their authorization certificate to customs offices.
